Basic Navigation in the Site Examination Tool and the Natural Freshwater Values Browser

The map allows you to navigate around the state to locate a site or area you are interested in (Note: you may have already navigated to a particular property via the 'property search' on the previous page). You can navigate further by the following methods: clicking and dragging will zoom to the selected region, or alternatively, you can double click on a catchment or subcatchment. This will zoom you to the selected catchment / subcatchment. If you zoom in too far, you can use the 'zoom out' tool in the toolbar.

Once you have located the site, you can choose to colour the map by theme. If you haven't zoomed in close enough, the colour tool is greyed out and you will have to zoom in closer. Once you have reached an appropriate zoom level, the tool is enabled. Conservation Management Priority (CMP) is the only option displayed in the Site Assessment Tool.

Extra variables from the CFEV assessment framework can be viewed by reporting on a particular feature. First you need to select a feature with a single mouse click. The more you zoom in, the more readily features become selectable. Once you have selected a feature, its name and value will be displayed in the info panel of the tool bar. You can then click the 'report' button to generate an on screen report. You can download a PDF version of this report by clicking the 'Download Full Report' button at the bottom of the report page.

Other tools on the map include a zoom out to full Tasmania view button, panning arrows (to move sideways or up and down) and a save current map button.

The Natural Freshwater Values Browser - extra features

Layer control - different map layers can be toggled on and off with the layer control function. Note that the layers selected will only be visible at relevant zoom levels.

Multiple feature selection - To report on multiple features (using the same settings), simply hold down the control key while making your selection.

Colour tool - allows you to code the ecosystems on screen using a range of CFEV assessment components. These choices will be reflected in the on-screen reports.

Ecosystem selection tool - allows you to select ecosystems that have other ecosystems over the top of them. For example wetlands under waterbodies.

River clusters - these are a useful way to look at the conservation values of larger riverine areas as they are made up of lots of river sections that have similar conservation values. They can be found in the ecosystem selection options (Note: These ecosystems are complicated and therefore slower, so it may take several seconds for your selection to register).
